Langstaff Day Architects is seeking a studio manager to join its team in London.

Langstaff Day Architects are a young architectural practice of 12 people looking for a part time studio manager to help run the day to day workings of the studio. The position is initially for a year’s maternity cover with the option of the position becoming a permanent, job-shared, role in future.

You will:

  • be a highly organised individual
  • have an excellent command of English
  • have a professional telephone manner and exceptional interpersonal skills
  • be calm, confident, friendly and – critically – proactive
  • be computer literate with knowledge of Word, Excel, and Adobe InDesign
  • have an interest in architecture and design

You tasks will include:

  • greeting visitors
  • answering incoming phone calls
  • organising incoming and outgoing post
  • booking and managing meeting rooms
  • organising refreshments and lunch for visitors and meetings
  • helping to keep the office clean and tidy
  • ordering stationery, office equipment and model making materials and managing studio printer supplies
  • ordering weekly groceries
  • ensuring compliance with health and safety at work regulations on behalf of the office (organising fire training, organising first aid kits etc)
  • supporting the ongoing studio day-remote working set up of the office: eg logistics, IT support, communications, diary management of staff/partner one-to-ones, ongoing management of coronavirus risk etc
  • assisting architects with document control duties such as uploading and downloading documents to extranet sites, producing document issue sheets, and performing QA checks of outgoing information
  • general administration support for all members of staff including research tasks, producing/binding of project reports and organising printing/mounting/delivery of presentation boards
  • supporting the management of diaries for internal and external meetings, especially for the practice partners
  • supporting architects compiling sample boards including ordering, storing and returning samples
  • assisting with bookkeeping duties such as helping to process payroll, invoicing and payments, filing receipts and reconciling accounts
  • managing petty cash
  • assisting with marketing tasks such as social media and website updates
  • assisting with bid submissions
  • assisting with HR tasks, such as organising annual reviews and making sure staff files are up to date
  • organising social events and activities

We are looking for people with expertise and interest in the following areas:

  • prefabricated engineered timber structures complex phased refurbishments incorporating innovative passive and sustainable features
  • finely engineered facade and envelope solutions
  • high-end interior design, both concept development and project delivery
  • collaborative working, with the coordination and delivery of information working in Revit and on BIM projects


You will have 10 years post Part II work experience including technical design and specification writing expertise on creative and innovative schemes. You will be experienced in acting in a lead consultant role, collaborating with a range of consultants. You will have been involved in projects at all stages, including during construction. You will have previous experience in Revit / BIM and NBS Chorus. You will be eager to find opportunities to help shape the future of the practice.
