ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS
for Nicholas Hare Architects

Joanna was project leader for Nicholas Hare Architects for the final phase of this complex remodelling project. The works provided a reception and seminar spaces alongside a mock operation theatre for scenario based training courses using mannequins.

The new state-of-the-art surgical skills facility for the Royal College of Surgeons in England was completed in Spring 2010.

The project involved extensive refurbishment to the listed nineteenth century building at the south side of Lincoln's Inn Fields which was bombed and partly rebuilt in the 1950s.

The aims were to remodel outdated teaching spaces and to improve circulation and accessibility.

All works had to touch the existing building lightly, whilst delivering a truly advanced set of facilities and spaces.

The highly-serviced building contains a surgical workshop, a clinical skills centre, seminar rooms and a small lecture theatre.
